Youngstown City College Area authorities commemorated 2 new student playing fields on March 28.

East Secondary school hosted a ribbon cutting for the new turf baseball and softball areas created at the school.

The trainees played their first video game of the baseball period versus Chaney Secondary school immediately after breaking ground on the brand-new field.

East alum Kenneth E. Smith, that also played in Major League Baseball with the Atlanta Braves, went back to throw the initial pitch to honor the new field.

The East Senior High School Golden Bears won the game with a last score of 10-9.

"The baseball field straightens with Youngstown City Institution's efforts in enhancing our overall programs; sports is just one of those components at the same time,"stated Superintendent Justin M. Jennings. "The Youngstown Board of Education and also Youngstown City Institution Area are delighted to bring these opportunities to our scholars.
